Lighthouse and TS Sports Make an Impact with LED Video at Portland’s Jeld Wen Field

Irvine, CA – May 17, 2011 -- Lighthouse and TS Sports have recently installed a Lighthouse Impact 16 LED video screen, along with 20mm pitchside and fascia displays, at Portland’s renovated Jeld Wen Field, formerly PGE Park.

With design by Anthony James Partners, the main LED video display rises from the south side of Jeld Wen Field, new home of Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers, and features Lighthouse’s new Impact 16 LED video product, an exceptionally bright 16mm-pitch LED video panel designed for both indoor and outdoor arenas and stadiums, particularly venues facing conditions involving high-intensity ambient light. With over 74 square meters of LED video, the main screen not only lights up the stadium with Timbers replays and vivid player introductions, but also custom video, spectacular animations and colorful, entertaining sponsor messages.

“Lighthouse is proud to contribute to Potland’s inaugural MLS season,” says Ed Whitaker, Lighthouse N.A.S.A. Director of Sales. “Timbers fans are passionate about their team, and Lighthouse brings that same level of passion to developing technology such as the Impact 16 and B10 pitchside display.”

Over 152 meter long, Lighthouse’s B10 pitchside display, which runs the length of Jeld Wen Field’s east side, plus portions of the north and south ends, not only contributes to the stadium’s electric atmosphere, but places the viewing experience on the same level as English Premiere League soccer and Italy’s Serie A. Pitchside displays are a familiar element of televised soccer, and a necessary medium for soccer organizations in the market for top flight sponsors.

Finishing off the installation at Jeld Wen Field is an LED video fascia display, situated on the Providence Building in the stadium’s southeast corner. Built with twelve panels of Lighthouse 20mm-pitch LED video, the colorful display runs eye-catching sponsor messages and game stats.

With excited fans, pro-level soccer, a beautiful pitch and Lighthouse’s industry-leading LED video products, the Portland Timbers are making an impact in their very first MLS season.

“By teaming with TS Sports,” Ed Whitaker adds, “Lighthouse delivered the perfect LED video solution for Jeld Wen Field. From a fan’s perspective, combining the Timbers with Lighthouse technology is soccer the way it should be.”
