Lighthouse Delivers another Winning Try at Hong Kong Sevens 2010

Hong Kong – 20th Apr 2010 – The 2010 Hong Kong Sevens has come to a close, bringing to an end another round of exciting play between some of the world’s top rugby clubs for over 110,000 fans from around the world. Leading LED display provider Lighthouse was on hand once again, providing two LED screens at the stadium's North Stand and Sevens Village at the Indian Recreation Club that wowed rugby fans with outstanding, larger-than-life visuals.

The championship matches proved truly historic: Hong Kong took on Russia for the Shield, with Hong Kong battling to a 19-17 victory. Meanwhile, Samoa took the Cup in a close match against New Zealand, Australia took the Plate, and Canada went home with the Bowl.

Lighthouse ensured every minute of the action was vividly displayed to all Hong Kong Sevens rugby fans. For the North Stadium screen, Lighthouse installed its 7 mm R7-ER display, a full 30m² in size. Audiences saw real-time playback, important match details and sponsorship information displayed in exceptionally sharp color and resolution. Meanwhile the screen installed at the Sevens Village, comprising Lighthouse R7-ER 7 mm panels, gave rugby fans that couldn’t get tickets plenty to cheer about. The huge 50m² LED screen delivered powerful visual impact, helping viewers feel as if they were right there in the stadium.

The tournament was broadcast all in high-definition. Displaying all the action as well as beautiful, dynamic advertising, the two screens offered complete versatility. Paired with Lighthouse’s own video controller, each screen provided perfectly synchronized, error-free broadcasts for stunning on-site performance.

Hong Kong Rugby Football Union Head of Events, Communication & Events Warrick Dent said, "Hong Kong Sevens has been held successfully in Hong Kong for many years. Every year we also get to enjoy the benefits of Lighthouse’s latest technology, which adds so much drama to the matches. The wonderful atmosphere and the success of the games just couldn’t be achieved without Lighthouse’s support. "

Hong Kong Sevens sponsor Show Time Media's director Scott Taylor added, "Over the past six years, Lighthouse has continued to improve its R&D and manufacturing technology. Its screens feature wonderfully vivid color and very dynamic performance. It has been an outstanding partner for us to work with, and we look forward to maintaining and expanding our cooperation with Lighthouse. "

Lighthouse general manager Peter Chan said, "We are honored to have the opportunity to continue supporting the Hong Kong Sevens. Our cooperation has been a happy one, and our proactive development strategy has helped us achieve stable, rapid growth. We look forward to providing display solutions for more world-class events down the road. "

Lighthouse has expressed clear interest in aggressively pursuing the sports market this year. In the United States, Lighthouse has already a name for itself in 2010 with the installation of a completely new screen at the internationally renowned Rose Bowl stadium. The Rose Bowl has been the site of a number of top-level international events including the World Cup, and is the annual home of American college football’s biggest sports championship. 25 Lighthouse LED display screens have also made their debut at the American Airlines Sports Center, home of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, providing the visuals for this year's NBA All-Star Game and Slam Dunk contest. Lighthouse screens will continue to serve at several upcoming major international events and activities in 2010, such as the World Cup, the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, and the Asian Games.
